Bad reasons for marriage

My best friend is in the middle of a horrible divoirce. They got together in 1980 for the worst of reasons. She wanted love and to live the good life. He wanted to possess her. Now 25 years later, they have 3 daughters, 2 houses, a multitude of toys. Well all the toys are his. His boat, his corvette, his camper, his trailers, his trucks.
She became another possession. It's so sad. So much life wasted.
Who is to say what is right about anyone's life? It is so short anyway and then what? Maybe that's why selfish people get so much. They don't care.
